Transcribed Accent Opt-Out

What is a transcribed accent? An transcribed accent is when you change the spelling of the dialogue of a character to reflect the unique way they pronounce the words. For example: "my" to "mah", "this" to "zis", or "you" to "ya" or "ye".

In Starbound canon, the "cowboy accents" of Novakid are transcribed, so I will transcribe Indigo's accent by default. If you don't want to deal with a transcribed accent when tagging Indigo for whatever reason (literally WHATEVER reason, no matter how small, I don't care and don't need to know), you can post here* or PM me about it if you really want it to be private, and I won't transcribe her accent when I tag you.

HOWEVER, her word choice will remain the same in order to retain her unique voice. She'll still use words like "ain't" and "y'all", address people as "partner" rather than "dude"/"man"/etc, and have improper grammar like leaving out helping words/prepositions and using double negatives, but all the words will be spelled properly. Here's an example:

Proper sentence:

"Are you all preparing to visit us?"

Accent (not transcribed):

"Y'all fixing to visit us?"

Accent (transcribed):

"Y'all fixin' ta visit us?"

*(Screening isn't enabled, sorry, I've been burned by stuff like anon and screening in the past. If anybody has a problem with you actually using this opt-out post in a polite manner, tell them to take it up with me.)

comments

CHARACTER NAME: Indigo
CHARACTER PRONOUNS: I can't think of a better place to put this, so: You can use she/her or they/them (or both) for Indigo, neither I nor she will mind either way. Goodness knows I have trouble picking one and sticking to it myself sometimes. You/your character thinks of Indigo as a girl? All cool. You/your character thinks of Indigo as genderless sapient plasma? Also all cool. Her own thoughts on the subject are basically "I dunno, partner, I just work here."
CHARACTER SERIES: Starbound

[OOC]
This is the permissions list for OOC (out of character), activity.
Answer the following questions with "yes" or "no", as well as additional information if desired.

Backtagging: Sure.
Threadhopping: Ask first.
Fourthwalling: Just don't tell her she's fictional.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): Ask first. The usual sex, violence, abuse, etc, and any references to wrist injuries/body mods.

[IC]

Hugging this character: Go for it! She's very warm (both figuratively and literally) and loves cuddles when she can get them.
Kissing this character: She will probably get shy and flustered and not know how to react. Please nothing more intimate than the cheek without permission (she doesn't have lips by default anyway), unless the thread has started down that road already. Otherwise, go for it.
Flirting with this character: Same as kissing, but without the permission thing.
Fighting with this character: Sure.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Ask first for anything that would break her "skin"; since her insides are made of plasma instead of flesh and bone, it's a much bigger deal than if a normal human got injured.
Killing this character: Only as part of a major plot.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: I'd rather not.

Warnings:

None I can think of?

Get your own copy of the IC/OOC Permissions meme!

comments
